MISSION
To promote and encourage quality participation and performance
by Tamilnadu sportspersons at national and international events through recognition, quality training, support schemes, and world-class infrastructure.
STRUCTURE
The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu is a Society
registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act,
1975. It is headed by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of
Tamilnadu Kalaignar M.Karunanidhi as its President. The
management of the Authority is enstrusted with an Executive
Comittee chaired by the Hon'ble Minister for Sports &
Youth Welfare as its
Chairman.
Dr.B. Sivanthi Adityan
is nominated by the Government as Vice President
(Executive). The
administrative control of the Authority is vested with Youth
Welfare & Sports Development Department in Secretariat
headed by Thiru M.Kutralingam,IAS as Secretary (I/c), the Member Secretary Thiru Satyabratha Sahoo,IAS, is the Chief Executive of the Authority.
FUTURE
At SDAT, our focus is to encourage talented sportspersons and provide world-class sports infrastructure/facilities in
Tamilnadu. We believe that there is tremendous sports potential in Tamilnadu. Our business is to ensure that gifted sportspersons have excellent support systems and quality coaching programmes throughout the State.
In today's high-pressure, competitive arena it takes more than sheer perseverance to create a consistent winner.
A holistic understanding of the sportsperson's psyche is necessary to provide relevant inputs. A scientific approach is being researched in terms of coaching, nutrition, and training cycles. We are working closely with nutritionists, coaches, doctors, and other specialists to understand what our sportspersons need and how best they can achieve optimal performance levels.
