CHIEF MINISTER'S AWARD
 

In 1996, the Government of Tamilnadu instituted a Chief Minister's Sports Award for outstanding sportspersons. The current financial year will be the year in which the award is granted to the sportsperson.

 
   
Award   
This award consists of a plaque, citation and a cash award of Rs. 1.00 lakh. Each year, two men and two women will be chosen for the award. Sportspersons who received the award earlier are not eligible to get the award for the second time. 
   
How to apply  

You need to submit your application to the concerned State Sports Association with the recommendations and certification by the State Sports Association Secretary. In addition, you will need to send attested copies of your qualifications and other certificates/citations. 

 
   
Selection  
A Selection Committee constituted by the Government will select and recommend suitable applicants to the Government through executive committee of SDAT. The committee may choose not to make a recommendation in the absence of suitable candidates.   
   
Performance year  
The performance year would be the current financial year or the preceding year. Achievements in International and National sports competitions would be considered for granting the award. The consistent performance of the sportsperson in the preceding 3 years of the performance year would also be considered.
